Mk1-2 Orbital Return Test

Craft Information - Re-entry Trajectory

The first launch of a 2.5m rocket from the KSC will carry aloft the new Mk1-2 command pod, unkerbed, so it can be put through trials in orbit and test its heat shield and parachute deployment on re-entry. Already tested on the ground, both the new 3-Bearcat lifter cluster and the orbital Service Propulsion System will see their first flights as well.

Orbital tests have concluded to the satisfaction of Mission Control. The capsule has been detached from the orbital stage after it was used to put the craft on a steep re-entry path. The LES has remained attached throughout the mission so it can record the re-entry for as long as possible - eventually heat will sear the lense.
